Documentation Kenii Pathways How-to guides
Build program pathways
Add career occupations, milestones, CCP pathways, advisor info, prerequisites, and testimonials to a program's pathway data.
Build program pathways
A program’s pathway data, career occupations, top skills, transfer articulations, milestones, CCP setup, advisor contact, prerequisites, and testimonials, all live in the Program Pathway editor. It doesn’t touch the program’s title, description, or credential structure; those stay in Catalog.
Open a program’s pathway data
- In the Pathways sidebar, click Pathway Programs.
- Click the program you want to edit.
The editor opens on the Overview tab, with Career Data, Credentials, CCP Pathways, and Advising & More tabs alongside it.
Note: On the Overview tab, the Description field saves the program’s description (the same one shown across the catalog). The Career Community shown there is read-only: a program’s community is its Area of Study, set in the Catalog program editor, and Compass and the CCP explorer group programs by it. To change the community, change the program’s Area of Study in Catalog.
Attach career occupations to a program
- Open the Career Data tab.
- If the program has a CIP code set in Catalog, click Load SOC codes from CIP to pull matching occupations from the federal CIP-to-SOC crosswalk in one step.
- To add an occupation manually, enter a SOC code (format
XX-XXXX, for example15-1212) and click Add SOC Code. - To temporarily remove an occupation from the public site without deleting it, click the eye icon on its card. Click it again to restore it.
- To pull fresh wage and employment data for one occupation, click the refresh icon on its card.
Each added code shows job title, annual mean wage, employment, and growth projection once Kenii fetches the data.
Edit the top skills shown for an occupation
- On the Career Data tab, scroll to Top Skills under the occupation.
- Click *Load from ONET* to pull hard and soft skills for that occupation (requires an ONET API key; see Track labor-market demand).
- Edit, reorder with the up/down arrows, or remove any skill.
If you leave the list empty, the public page falls back to live O*NET data for that occupation.
Attach a different occupation to one credential
By default, a credential inherits its program’s career occupations. Set this only when a credential leads somewhere different, for example a short-term certificate within a longer program.
- Open the Credentials tab.
- Under Career Occupations, find the credential.
- Search a job title in the box and click a result to add it.
Once a credential has its own occupations listed here, it stops inheriting the program’s.
Add transfer articulations to a credential
See Manage transfer institutions and articulations.
Add milestones to a credential
Milestones are checkpoints shown along a credential’s plan of study, for example “Complete gateway math.”
- Open the Credentials tab and find the credential under Milestones.
- Click Add Milestone.
- Choose the semester, enter a label, and choose a type: Checkpoint, Gateway, or Capstone.
Set up a CCP (dual enrollment) pathway
- Open the CCP Pathways tab.
- Turn on Enable CCP Pathways.
- Click a credential to expand it.
- Enter a Pathway Code and choose the CCP Start Grade (9 through 12).
- Fill in the phase-by-phase course plan for the credential.
Enabling a CCP pathway on a credential also marks its parent program as CCP-eligible, which is what makes it appear on the CCP Pathways page.
If you need to control the order credentials complete in and which credential leads to which, use the credential chain fields on this tab as well.
Add advisor contact info
- Open the Advising & More tab.
- Under Program Advisor, fill in Name, Title, Email, and Phone.
This contact info shows on the program’s map and on its Compass results.
Add prerequisites
- On the Advising & More tab, under Prerequisites & Admission Requirements, click Add Requirement.
- Enter a label and description, and toggle whether it’s Required or Optional.
Add testimonials
- On the Advising & More tab, under Testimonials, add an entry using the testimonials editor.
Save your changes
Click Save Pathway Data (or press Cmd/Ctrl+S) at any point. Saving applies to whichever tab you’re on and every other tab you’ve edited in this session.
