Publish Compass to students

Compass is the guided finder students use to land on programs your college actually offers. Publishing it means getting the [kenii_compass] shortcode live on a page, whether that’s a page Kenii builds for you or one you place yourself.

Publish Compass with Kenii’s built-in page

1. In the Pathways sidebar, click Pathways Settings.
2. Click the Templates section.
3. Turn on Enable Templates.
4. Click Save Settings.

Kenii creates and publishes a page at /compass/ (and, alongside it, pages for Career Communities and your dual enrollment pathways) containing the [kenii_compass] shortcode.

Rename the page or change its URL

1. On the Templates section, expand Find Your Path under Your Pages.
2. Edit Page Title to change what students see, or URL Slug to change the page’s address.

Changing the slug redirects the old URL automatically, so any links or bookmarks to it keep working.

Publish Compass on a page you build yourself

If your theme or page builder handles the page’s layout, place the shortcode directly instead of using Kenii’s built-in page.

1. Create or edit a WordPress page in your builder of choice.
2. Add the shortcode: [kenii_compass].
3. Publish the page.

If you want to drop Kenii’s built-in hero, breadcrumb, or sidebar chrome because your builder supplies its own, pass the toggles:

[kenii_compass hero="false" breadcrumb="false"]

Turn on the Enable Compass setting

1. In Pathways Settings, click the Compass section.
2. Turn on Enable Compass.
3. Click Save Settings.

This setting gates Compass everywhere it can appear: the Compass Explorer Gutenberg block, the [kenii_compass] shortcode, and Kenii’s built-in /compass/ page. While Enable Compass is off, all three show a neutral “Compass is not yet enabled” message instead of the finder, and Kenii won’t auto-create the /compass/ page. Turn it on once your career communities and programs are ready, so students never land on an empty or half-built finder.

Confirm students see real results

Before pointing students at the page, confirm at least one career community has a published program with a published credential assigned to it. Compass only returns programs and credentials that exist and are published; an empty community or a program with no credentials won’t produce a result for that path. Use Compass elsewhere on your site

To link students into Compass from another page, or to embed the exploration tool inside content instead of on its own page, use the same shortcode wherever you need it:
