How to manage Continuing Education courses
Set up a course's hours, tuition, schedule, and registration link for Continuing Education
How to manage Continuing Education courses
Continuing Education courses show clock hours, tuition, a schedule, and a register link instead of credit hours, prerequisites, and transfer status.
Set a course to Continuing Education
- Open Catalog > Courses and open the course (or click Add Course).
- Enter the Course Title. Leave Course Code blank, Continuing Education courses don’t use the
PREFIX-NUMBERformat. - Set Course Type to Continuing Education.
- Click Save.
Changing Course Type replaces the Curriculum fields (credits, class/lab/clinic/work hours, prerequisites, corequisites, transfer status) with the Continuing Education fields described below.
Fill in hours, tuition, and schedule
- Under Hours & Tuition, enter Clock Hours and Tuition (for example,
$180). - Under Schedule, enter when the course runs, room, and start/end dates in the rich text editor.
- Enter the course Description.
- Click Save.
Set up registration
- Under Registration, enter a Register Button Label (defaults to “Register” if left blank).
- Enter a Register URL as a fallback link.
- If your college uses a registration platform that Kenii’s registration base URL can build links for, enter the course’s Registration Key (its ID, category, or search term in that platform) instead of a fixed URL.
If both a Registration Key and a Register URL are set, the key-built link takes priority and the Register URL is used only when the key doesn’t resolve to a link. If neither is set, no register button appears.
The registration base URL is configured once for the whole site in Settings > Institution (kenii_registration_base_url), not per course.
Show where the course is offered
If your catalog has campuses enabled, assign the course to one or more campuses under Campuses in the course editor. The course page then shows an Offered At list linking to those campus pages, see How to set up multiple campuses.
Group Continuing Education courses under a program
If you’re building out an entire Continuing Education program (not just one course), mark the program’s Program Type as Continuing Education too, in the program editor’s Program Info step. This unlocks a program-level Details tab with its own schedule, registration, and CTA fields, separate from the individual course records, see How to manage programs, credentials, and courses.
