Compare two catalog years
See exactly what changed between two editions of your catalog before you publish,
or to answer a question about what a past year said.
- Go to Catalog Years in the sidebar.
- Click Compare Years in the header.
- Choose a From year and a To year.
- Click Compare.
The results are grouped by record type (Programs, Credentials, Courses, Policies)
and by what happened to each one: Added, Removed, Changed, or
Discontinued. A changed record lists the individual fields that differ, with
the old and new value for simple fields. For requirements and plans of study, the
comparison summarizes what changed instead of showing raw text: courses added or
removed, sections added or removed, and any change to total credits.
If you want to compare a specific year straight against whatever is currently
active, skip the Compare Years screen: open that year’s row actions on the Catalog
Years list and select Compare to Active instead. It opens the same comparison
screen with both years already selected.
If the comparison reports a matching note about a record it “matched by title” or
“could not disambiguate,” that means two records in the same year share the same
identity (for example, two courses with the same code, or two credentials under the
same program with the same name). Resolve the duplicate in the affected year if you
want a cleaner comparison.
For the read-only rule that applies to published years, see
why published years are read-only.
