Your First Catalog Year
Create your college's first catalog year and add a program to it
Your First Catalog Year
Kenii organizes your catalog by academic year, so you can keep last year’s programs on record while you build the current one. In this tutorial you’ll create your college’s first catalog year, add a program to it, and confirm it’s live.
What you’ll achieve
- Your college’s first catalog year, created and active.
- A program that belongs to that year, visible on your live site.
Prerequisites
- A Catalog Editor or Administrator account (see Getting Started with Kenii Catalog).
Step 1: Create your first catalog year
- In the sidebar, click Catalog Years.
- Click Create New Year.
- Under New Year Name, type a name, for example 2026-2027.
- Click Create Year.
A toast confirms the year was created. In the table, your new year appears with an Active badge: this is your college’s first catalog year, so Kenii makes it active right away, and any programs, credentials, or courses you already published (for example, from Getting Started with Kenii Catalog) are now counted under it.
Step 2: Add a program to this year
- In the sidebar, open Catalog → Programs.
- Click Add Program.
- Under Program Name, type a name, for example Business Administration.
- Click Save.
A toast confirms Program created. Go back to Catalog Years: the Programs count on your year’s row has gone up by one.
Step 3: See it live
Open your site’s Programs page in a browser tab. The program you just created appears in the list, alongside anything else you’ve published.
Everything you build in Kenii Catalog from here on belongs to this catalog year, until you create the next one. For how catalog years move from active to published to offline, see the post types and taxonomies reference.
